Authorities believe Sherry Lynn Kehoe-Medhaug, 68, was crossing South End Road to check her mail when a passing truck hit her

Authorities believe Sherry Lynn Kehoe-Medhaug, 68, likely had been crossing South End Road to check her mailbox when a passing truck hit her around 6:30 p.m. Thursday, Nov. 19.

Kehoe-Medhaug lived in an area of unincorporated Oregon City that's part of the Canby School District. Clackamas County Sheriff's Office deputies, assisted by police officers from Oregon City and Canby, responded to the report of a truck hitting a pedestrian near Rocky Bluff Lane on South End Road north of Highway 99E, between Canby and Oregon City.

American Medical Response paramedics arrived on scene to aid Kehoe-Medhaug, who had suffered severe injuries, but she died before she could be transported to a hospital.

Deputies spoke with medical personnel and the truck driver, who remained on scene and cooperated with investigation.

Deputies said the truck driver did not show signs of impairment from drugs or alcohol. Investigators noted that at the time of the crash, the roadway was wet, and the sun had set nearly two hours earlier. The truck driver's name was not released, and the case is still under investigation.

Deputies closed South End Road at Highway 99E for about two hours while authorities investigated.
