Oregon City hires Matt Zook as finance director
Oregon City hired Matt Zook as its new finance director on Dec. 28.
In the position Zook replaces Wyatt Parno, who was hired by the city in 2012 and left in October 2020 to become chief executive officer of the South Fork Water Board, the water provider for Oregon City and West Linn.
Zook has more than 22 years of experience in municipal finance, previously working for the cities of Lake Oswego, West Linn, North Bend, Damascus and Newberg. In addition, Zook has worked two years at Oregon Health & Science University and in corporate information technology sales.
Zook's mission as Oregon City finance director is to demonstrate quality and excellence in every aspect of financial stewardship, including budgeting, auditing and personnel development. Zook said that a strong team culture is the foundation for accomplishing the mission and understands that the people he leads will ultimately determine success.
Zook graduated from California State University, Fullerton, in 1991 with a bachelor's degree in business administration, and later, from Concordia University in Portland with a master's degree in business administration in 2006.
