Benjamin plans on attending Reed College to study biochemistry and molecular biology. As a member of the Science National Honor Society, she has participated in several projects to improve the environment. A member of the OCHS basketball team, she mentored at summer camps for younger children. She was a member of OCHS's debate team and botany club.

According to Alice Hayden, chair of the OCWC Scholarship Committee, all seniors attending a high school in Oregon City who plan to attend an accredited institution of higher learning in Oregon are eligible for the scholarship.
