Miguel and Tony Perez will carry on father's legacy with their 13th franchise location.

Opening with a unique story just in time for Father's Day, Oregon City now has another place for battery, lightbulb or smart device repair and replacement.COURTESY PHOTO: TYLER SCHEUERMANN - Miguel and Tony Perez, front, held a grand opening June 9 for their Batteries Plus location in Oregon City.

Batteries Plus held a grand opening this month to provide a variety of services to residents with automotive needs, such as free car battery testing and installations on most vehicles, and help replacing cell phone, key fob, watch, laptop or tablet batteries.

Each staff member has experience and training with phone repair for broken and cracked screens for iPhone and Samsung smartphones. The shop also offers a range of products, such as automotive batteries (ATV, snowmobile, motorcycle, car, marine and golf cart), chargers, cell phone batteries, phone essentials, SLA and lithium batteries, alkaline batteries and even large generator or industrial UPS batteries.

Before he opened his first Batteries Plus location in 1995, Tony Perez waited on tables at a local restaurant. He decided to make a change that year when his now-late father, Jose Perez, a Cuban immigrant, approached him and his brother, Miguel Perez, with the idea to become franchisees.

Miguel and Tony continue to carry on their father's legacy. Back in 1995, Miguel had just graduated college when they opened the first Batteries Plus location on the West Coast. Since then, the Perez family has opened 13 locations, with Oregon City being the ninth in the Portland metro area.

"Our local team of experts will be there to help provide a memorable experience that is readily accessible to residents," Miguel said.
