Clackamas County Democratic chair: Oregon City candidate embodies qualities of leadership and human compassion

FILE PHOTO - Charles Gallia was recently elected chair of Clackamas County Democrats. As a lifelong Oregonian and chair of the Clackamas County Democrats, the well-being of Oregonians has always guided my work. Nurturing and supporting young leaders is one of the most important ways we can do that as individuals, communities and political parties.

In the race for Oregon City mayor, I have seen the qualities of leadership and human compassion most strongly in Alex Josephy. Not only is Alex shaping the conversation around homelessness, being the first candidate to openly declare this as a key issue he will address as mayor, he is also leading the conversation of unifying Oregon City after the divisive recall of Dan Holladay.

I think it is important to highlight that I believe Alex will represent all Oregon City residents regardless of political affiliation, although he is the only Democrat running in this race against three Republicans. He embodies what the Democratic Party is striving to grow into: standing up for the working class, learning from the past to create a more inclusive and equitable future for all, and caring for the infrastructure and lands that we all live on. I am proud to support Alex Josephy for mayor of Oregon City on March 9.

Charles Gallia was elected chair of the Clackamas County Democrats last year. In October, he moved to within Oregon City limits after living for many years near Carver in unincorporated Clackamas County.
