Logan Buehner takes pride in Navy deployment to the Indo-Pacific ocean regions

Gunner's Mate 1st Class Logan Buehner, a 2009 graduate of Oregon City High School, currently is serving onboard the USS Gabrielle Giffords. The ship is on a rotational deployment to INDOPACOM, conducting operations, exercises and port visits throughout the region, and working hull-to-hull with allied and partner navies to provide maritime security and stability in the Indo-Pacific.

What Buehner likes best about his job as a gunner's mate is "the privilege of working on various gun weapon systems, and teaching and qualifying other sailors on the gun range."

Another part of his job is firing shot lines from his ship's flight deck to a replenishment oiler, so his ship is able to refuel while out at sea on a mission.

When the USS Gabrielle Giffords is in port, Buehner finds it interesting to see new places and to interact with foreign military forces.

"It's a great way to strengthen our military and build great relationships with other countries," he said.

What he appreciates most about being in the U.S. Navy is the culture and the camaraderie he develops with the people with whom he serves.

"I feel a great sense of pride being in the world's greatest Navy and being a part of something much greater than myself," Buehner said.

To his family and friends back in Oregon City, Buehner sends his love and thanks for their support.
