Oregon Trail Recovery Alumni share their Stories

Curtis DeVoursney's Story

Prior to OTR I was homeless and unable to maintain any kind of stability except when incarcerated. I decided to stop trying to control my life and let someone else point me in the right direction. I came to OTR on 1/14/16 after 10 days of inpatient treatment. This program gave me the opportunity to humble myself enough to accept God's grace and become teachable.

I was given the tools needed to become a productive member of society focusing on helping others to recover from their disease. I started working at OTR after completing the 9-month program and that was in September 2016. I have been here ever since helping people to find their path to recovery. I am currently one of the Primary Counselors at Oregon Trail Recovery.

Sam Frey's Story

In August of 2015 I came to Oregon Trail Recovery, completely broken and beaten down from the consequences of my addiction and was willing to do whatever was asked of me. I was asked to attend multiple group counseling sessions a week, get involved in a 12-step program, and start doing the deep inner work to heal from my past. OTR supported me when I faced real world problems, helped me begin to heal my broken family dynamic, and taught me how to be a productive member of society.

In March of 2016, I began working as a house manager giving back what was so freely given to me. Today, I'm the Office Manager/HR at OTR, have a beautiful family, and live a life that I never thought possible for an addict like me.
