Pet Tributes

Honoring and celebrating the lives of our faithful friends

Brought to you by the Pamplin Media Group with the support of DoveLewis

Our relationships with companion animals are some of the most important ones in our lives. We build special memories with them, and their loss can be devastating. Grief is a normal, natural response to loss, and we grieve our pets because we love them deeply.
Pamplin Media Group readers can now honor the memories of their furry, scaled, and feathered family members with a Pet Tribute. And thanks to DoveLewis’ Pet Loss Support Program, readers can now place a Pet Tribute at a significantly discounted rate.

On June 30, 2017, the Sanborn family said goodbye to Luke. He was adopted in April of 2002 when he was 8 months old, and he was the first puppy to be welcomed into our family.

Luke Sanborn

Luke was hopelessly devoted to his people; his happiest moments were anytime that we were all together in one room, even better if we were together outside throwing his tennis ball. If we happened to be in separate rooms in the house he would make his rounds, diligently checking on everyone to make sure we were okay. The patrols slowed down in his golden years when it became harder for him to get around the house, but he never fully retired from his job.

It's been five years since his passing but we still share stories about him, especially on warm summer nights in the backyard. He's in our hearts and always will be.
