Every year Portland lights up for holidays starting in the fall and lasting through Valentine's Day. The Halloween holiday calls out for eerie lights for spooks. Use strings of lights to intensify the creepy mood, if you put up green lights you can feel like a zombie. Maybe string up orange and purple lights for pumpkins and shadows. Whether inside or out, lights add to the ambience of the holiday.

If you are having a party, use green lights in your bathroom so your guests will look nice and sick when they look in the mirror. Use purple bulbs to make the room feel like it has Black Light. If you already have a black light, blue or purple lights add to the aura. How about red light bulbs to create the impression of fire? Maybe flicker flames to put in your window or pumpkin? Stop into our shop on North Mississippi for ideas to create the scariest house on the block.

Remember to be safe when adding lights as decoration. Outside light strings need to be supported on a guy wire or on something solid. Do not hang the lights with just the sockets to support the string. Keep the bulbs away from anything the bulbs can burn, like plant leaves, cloth, or plastic. The same rules apply inside your home.

One last rule. Keep all electrical cords and connections safe by keeping them dry and out of foot traffic. Do not put cords under rugs, and keep the connection safe. Happy Halloween!
