The free Portland Winter Light Festival, or PDXWLF, fun is just weeks away, February 6th to the 8th.  This annual event, presented by the Willamette Light Brigade and PGE, highlights over 100 artists and performers.  They create interactive activities for the whole family. This free nighttime festival celebrates Portland winter and our community with illuminated art installations.  The first of the many displays are the large windows in the Sunlan Lighting Store on North Mississippi Avenue. This year there will be several new light art displays in both the downtown area and on the East side of the river.

The goal of the Festival is to show case Portland's best characteristics, creativity, and ingenuity.  My question to you is: Why let those two areas have all the fun? Each neighborhood home and business area can be part of the festival of light. Together, we can expand the feel the holiday lights brought to our community. Leave your lights up. Take down the Santa, but leave the snowmen on display. Keep the lights up and maybe add a few other colors. Put a flicker flame bulb in a stand in the window and/or a colored bulb on the porch.

Help turn our city into a magical landscape this winter. For more information about the 5th annual Portland Winter Light Festival and how you can volunteer, sponsor or donate, visit
