When Dwight Parr Sr. founded Parr Lumber in 1930, he had no idea that a single lumber yard in Vancouver, Washington, would become one of the nation's largest building material suppliers. The Parr Company proudly operates 34 locations in Oregon and Washington, with just over 1,000 employees providing everything customers and contractors need to build, maintain and enhance homes.
Headquartered in Hillsboro, Oregon, the Parr Company continues to grow while carrying on the family legacy. Michael Parr, Brad Farmer and Nancy Cranston — grandchildren of the company's founder — play active roles in the Parr Company and foster a family-oriented atmosphere. The Parr Company consists of five distinct subsidiaries that provide building solutions and services.
Parr Lumber has 23 locations which stock over 6,000 items at each site, and thousands more are available by special order, running the gamut of building supplies and materials. Products include lumber, decking, fencing, siding, windows, doors, tools, outdoor living and more.

Parr Cabinet Design Center has six locations that offer a vast selection of cabinets, countertops, sinks, appliances and hardware, all making any room remodel a breeze with products and services that can take your project from start to finish. Parr's onsite designers provide expert advice through store visits or free online design consultations. They even help with delivery and installation.
Quality Truss and Trus-way have three locations that design and manufacture trusses and floor systems for builders with residential, multi-family, light commercial and agricultural projects.
Like any successful long-standing business, Parr Lumber has adapted to the changing times and customer needs. Currently, homeowners are spending more time utilizing their indoor space for home offices, schools and gyms; sometimes, they're looking to extend their living space into their backyards.
"Spring is the perfect time to start outdoor projects. Every year, we see customers come in excited to start working on their yards. As the largest deck and fence supplier in Oregon, we help customers with everything they need for their outdoor projects, including pavers, paint, siding, windows, doors and even outdoor living kits," said Nancy Cranston, granddaughter of Dwight Parr Sr. and director of marketing for the Parr Company. "Of course, we carry pressure-treated softwoods and cedar, which are common choices for decks, but we also carry hardwoods like Ipe, tigerwood and mahogany. Trex, Timbertech and Azek composite decking make excellent deck choices for customers, too."
Whether it's framing, remodeling, or smaller DIY projects, all Parr locations maintain the Parr family atmosphere where passing on generations of knowledge, stocking quality products, and a steadfast commitment to customer service are part of the company culture.
