Sponsored story brought to you by Portland Metropolitan Realtors®. Realtors® step up to help Portland after the difficult past year.

PORTLAND METROPOLITAN AREA REALTORS®Everybody looks to Realtors® when it's time to buy or sell a home, but local Realtors® go beyond helping you buy and sell properties. As active community members, Realtors® volunteer, serve on local boards and committees, and continually find ways to make a difference and help build stronger communities in and around the Portland metropolitan region.

Recently, Realtors® from around the area volunteered to help revitalize Lownsdale Park in downtown Portland.

"Portland strives to be a safe and beautiful place to visit and live," said local Realtor® Diana McCredie of Keller Williams Realty Portland Central, who was one of the volunteers. "Realtors® from all over the Portland area came together to help clean up Lownsdale Park as we are continuing to invest in and plan a prosperous Portland."

The park cleanup event was possible after the Portland Metropolitan Association of Realtors® received a Community Rebuilding Grant from the National Association of Realtors®. Funding for PMAR's portion of the project came from NAR's Urban Initiative (it's part of the Community Outreach Program) and includes funding to assist urban areas addressing challenges in their communities. PMAR also directly contributed funds to the project.

"Portland was not well portrayed in the media last year," said Michele Gila, Director of Realtor® Advocacy at PMAR. "Realtors® are active community members and know what was often shown on television is not necessarily the Portland we know or the Portland where we live. Realtors® want to ensure the version shown is corrected and that everyone knows Portland strives to be a safe and beautiful place to visit and live. We hope everyone in the community will help our city thrive and that others will join and show they are Here for Portland."

Here For Portland is an ongoing initiative encouraging community members to commit to working together for a better Portland. PMAR is part of the Mayor Ted Wheeler's efforts in the campaign to bring people together to make Portland cleaner, greener and safer, and helping local businesses recover from the COVID-19 pandemic.

"Realtors® know that communities are stronger when we are working together," said Michellé Hutton of Keller Williams Realty Professionals, who helped secure the grant from NAR and organize the park cleanup. "I love this city and community and want to make a positive impact. The park cleanup was simply one small step we can take to begin to improve our city and to make Portland a better city for all to call home."

Home is the key theme with Realtors®, and they are ready and committed to making it happen. Whether it's the structure you live in or the city where you live, Realtors® want both to be a place you are proud to call home.
