How to maximize the lifespan of your flag
We work hard for the things we have, so of course we want them to last. At Elmer's Flag and Banner we understand and carefully select our inventory from reputable companies that manufacture US flags in America. From our front door to yours, you're buying the finest quality. Here's a few simple strategies to increase the lifespan of your flag investment.
• Choose a heavier weight polyester flag for winter and a lighter nylon flag for summer. Polyester flags are more able to withstand winter's harsh weather conditions while nylon is known to resist fading in the summer sun.
• Buy two winter flags and two summer flags and rotate them. By rotating them, the flags have an opportunity to "dry out" and retain their integrity. We recommend rotating your flags six times per year.
• When the weather's bad, be sure to bring Old Glory inside. But how bad is "bad enough?" The Flag Code says: "The flag should not be displayed on days when the weather is inclement, except when an all-weather flag is displayed." Today's flags are more durable than they were even a few decades ago and withstand most adverse conditions. But if the winds are predicted to gust over 30 mph, it's time to bring it in.
• If the fly-end of your Elmer's flag is looking a bit tattered, don't throw it out - bring it back to us and we'll repair the fly-end for free. Yes, you read that right, for FREE.
