The Lloyd Center Ice Rink is the heart of the Lloyd Center Mall. Ralph B. Lloyd (1879-1953) was a California oil magnate who wanted to shift the energy of downtown to the Eastside. In 1910, he began purchasing 100s of lots adding up to 50 acres of land; Mr. Lloyd was seeking political support in the 1920s for various parks, a hotel, a business park, and the largest shopping center on Earth. However, his dreams would end up being postponed by the Great Depression, then by construction material shortages during WWII. When Ralph passed in 1953, his four daughters: Eleanor, Elizabeth, Ida, and Lula promised to make his dream of building the largest shopping mall in the country with a year-round ice rink for his descendant, an aspiring, competitive ice-skater.

Skating is a great way to relieve stress; physical activity releases endorphins in the brain. Learning to ice-skate also boosts self-confidence and burns 500 calories an hour! Group lessons are offered in a comfortable, air-conditioned environment where lifelong friends can be made. Skate school enrollment will connect you to a thriving community of families, coaches, and skaters of all ages. Group classes can be supplemented with: private lessons, freestyle sessions, in-house competitions, and themed theatrical shows including Minions, Nutcracker, and Thriller.

Once enrolled in group classes, a student receives the option to skate as often or as little as they'd like of the 62 hours of public skate sessions offered weekly with free admission. Our 600 new rental skates start at a toddler size 8 figure skate for the beginning skater up to size 11 women's or size 10 men's figure skate. Our comfortable hockey skates fit adult sizes 5-15.

Our pro-shop offers a large selection of Jackson skates for sale from sizes toddler size 8 to women's size 7. You can request songs from our DJ during our Rock n' Skate Sessions on Fridays and Saturdays from 5:30pm-7:30pm. Ages 6-49 are $17.00 (includes admission and rental). Perhaps you're on a budget and not ready to commit to skate school? Cheap skate nights held on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 5:30pm-7:30pm are $15.00 (includes admission and rental). All skaters have in-and-out privileges for the day. This means you can go shopping or take snack breaks to enjoy a pretzel, bubble tea, Cinnabon, or a meal up on the third floor; then come back and skate some more.

We are taking reservations now for after hour groups, holiday parties, birthday parties, and Broomball. You will have exclusive use of the rink and party rooms as early as 8:00pm. A basic skating class is the safest bet if you've never been on the ice before or haven't skated since childhood. Learning how to ice skate builds strength, develops confidence, and teaches the value of perseverance. An ice rink in a shopping mall attracts families to flock to the ice rink for a cool, fun day out.
