Where would you plant a flag?
When traveling, people love to buy flags! We do too. Flags remind us of our travels to faraway lands and make great conversation starters. But have you ever taken a flag to another country? Flags pack small but make a big impression when gifted to friends or family or new friends met in new lands. We can even custom-make the perfect flag for you to take on your next trip.
One favorite story is of Chris Bombardier (great name, right?) who came to Elmer's Flag and Banner with a custom request. Chris is the executive director of Save One Life, an international nonprofit providing direct financial aid to patients with hemophilia in developing countries. We worked with Chris to create custom flags he took around the world. A mountaineer, Chris became the first person with hemophilia to successfully climb the Seven Summits, including Mt. Everest where he was photographed with his custom flag made at Elmer's. Chris dedicated his climbs to raising funds for Save One Life. He's raised over $250,000 to date and has helped 75 children receive sponsorships.
While not everyone's story is as inspiring as Chris', we love to hear about your adventures and the unique places you've taken the American flag.
Stop by Elmer's Flag and Banner today to let us show you our selection of world flags. Pick up a few, including Old Glory, the flag of the country you're visiting, and the Portland city flag, to be taken on your next adventure. Traveling is exciting, especially when you can take a bit of home with you!
