COURTESY SHARONA SHNAYDER - Shoshana Goldhammer Climate change isn't just a hot or cold planet, it's a less livable planet.

For Shoshi (above), and all other generations to inherit this Earth, this is their future. One where the fate of their world rests in the hands of leaders who are failing to take action on this crisis. No childhood should be spent inside, avoiding extreme weather, poor air quality, a pandemic threatening their livelihood, nor fighting to solve an issue they didn't create.

This Earth is our home. And if walking outside to an apocalyptic sky doesn't make you wake up & realize things need to change ... then what will?

Being proactive about climate change is our only way of mitigating it. At this point we can't stop the extreme weather already set in motion by decades of pollution, but we can keep it from getting worse. We can keep us from reaching the point where feedback loops kick in making this crisis reach an irreversible tipping point.

Things you can do:

• Vote like your life depends on it

• Exercise your right to peaceful protest

• Reduce your waste and pick up trash

• Say "no" to single use plastics

• Shop locally and second hand

• Commute responsibly/sustainably

• Limit your consumption of meat products

• Educate yourself and others on the crisis

When your kids look back someday and ask "What did you do to try and protect us from this," will you say "Not enough?" Or will you proudly say you did everything you could to prevent the worst of it?
