Debbie Lumb: Clackamas County chair is making up story about fake kidnapping, political motivation

I want to go on the record against Clackamas County Chair Tootie Smith's claim that I was politically motivated in speaking out about Tootie's assault on another debate attendee. Debbie Lumb

I have a clear recollection of that Jan. 27 event. I saw Tootie physically grab Kamala Pati. I heard Tootie's claims that day about the fake kidnapping that she made up.

While attending a Jan. 27 gubernatorial debate hosted by Republican women in Oregon City, both Tootie and I had to use the restroom facility at the same time. When I was done, the victim was standing in the bathroom, and at this time, Tootie was still going to the bathroom.

The victim told me she was going to ask Tootie a question, so I left. Then two minutes or less later, I could hear something coming from the bathroom, so I went in to check. As I came around the corner, Tootie Smith had the victim's arm in her hand. Tootie was in the victim's face speaking about why she stopped the Jan. 13 meeting of the Board of County Commissioners.

The victim of the assault only wanted to know Tootie's reasoning for the claims she made about being kidnapped and the meeting being rushed. The victim had her phone in her hand, but Tootie grabbed her arm to prevent her from filming then bent down and got directly in her face.
