Oregon Children’s Theatre soon will present the West Coast premiere of “Fancy Nancy,” featuring Haley Ward, a junior at Gladstone High School, as Bree.

When Bree lands the coveted role, Nancy realizes that being fancy comes in many forms — all it takes is a dash of imagination, camaraderie and a little joie de vivre. As made clear in the script, Nancy had been sure she would be cast as a shimmering mermaid, but she ended up as an ordinary tree instead.

Ward recently was seen on the OCT stage as Lady Bird and Mouse in OCT’s “A Year With Frog and Toad” (for which she received a Drammy Award) and as Cow in OCT’s “Duck For President.” When she isn’t performing on stage, she’s dancing with her school’s award-winning dance team “The Gladettes,” writing songs and jamming on her ukulele.
