Chef, blogger and best-selling cookbook author Michelle Tam, called the Martha Stewart of paleo food, is coming to Portland on Oct. 11 to prepare a paleo brunch with Departure chef Gregory Gourdet.

Tam, who lives in San Francisco, has gained a loyal following in recent years with her “Nom Nom Paleo” blog, which turned into a New York Times best-selling cookbook called “Nom Nom Paleo: Food for Humans.”

Gourdet hosted a dinner at Departure for the cookbook release in January, featuring dishes such as kale and duck pastrami and mulligatawny soup.

The upcoming breakfast will be served cafeteria-style. It’s set for 10 a.m. to noon Saturday, Oct. 10, at Departure Restaurant and Lounge, 525 S.W. Morrison St.

Menu items are free of gluten, soy, sugar, legumes and grains. The menu will include: a carrot, ginger and zucchini muffin; smoked salmon with citrus and Japanese chili; egg baked in avocado and bacon vinaigrette; sweet potato and roasted chili hash; collard greens, caramalized onion and squash quiche; grilled hanger steak with radish kimchee; fish sauce chicken

sausage patties; blueberry-banana pancakes with ginger, macadamia nuts and maple syrup; and a green smoothie with coco nib and goji berries.

Tickets are $50 per person, which includes a drink from the Bloody Mary bar or a mimosa, and a Nom Nom Paleo action figure. Tam will be available to sign books. For reservations: 503-802-5370.
