A local teacher, Scott Montanaro, will compete next week in the "Jeopardy!" Teachers Tournament. The two-week event, which starts Monday, May 7, features several of America's brightest educators facing off for $100,000 and a spot in the next Tournament of Champions.

Montanaro is a history and psychology teacher at Wilson High School.

Bob Julian, a social studies teacher from Ashland, also is in the contest.

Raitt cancels

Because of an unexpected medical situation, Bonnie Raitt has been forced to back out of concerts with James Taylor & His All-Star Band, including June 5 at Moda Center.

Raitt will be having surgery, but a full recovery is expected.

Book sale

The Spring Used Book Sale, held twice each year by Friends of Multnomah Library, will take place at DoubleTree by Hilton Portland, 1000 N.E. Multnomah St., 9 a.m.-9 p.m. Saturday, May 5, 11 a.m.-5 p.m. Sunday, May 6 and 9 a.m.-3 p.m. Monday, May 7 (50 percent off everything). For more:

Comey comic

Portland's TidalWave Comics has produced a comic about controversial former FBI Director James Comey, titled "Political Power: James Comey." It's written by Michael Frizell and drawn by Joe Paradise, with cover art by Pablo Martinena. It's available digitally on e-readers and in print. It's an "origin" about Comey — a sequel, featuring the President Trump era, is in development.
