Evergreen Aviation & Space Museum in McMinnville is a big attraction for fans of planes. So is the Pearson Air Museum in Vancouver, Wash., and it has quite a rare plane on display.

The newly refurbished 1918 Curtiss JN-4 "Jenny" biplane was acquired through a federal contract and restored at Century Aviation in East Wenatchee, Wash.

The airplane's paint scheme replicates an aircraft that flew from Pearson Field in the early 1920s as part of the Army Air Service's 321st Observation Squadron. American pilots trained in the JN-4 "Jenny" during World War I.

The museum also features the DH-4 Liberty and a replica of a 1912 Curtiss Pusher. "This is the first time that a DH-4 and a JN-4 have been together at Pearson Field since 1927," said Bob Cromwell, museum manager.

There'll be a grand opening ceremony at 11 a.m. Saturday, Sept. 28, at Pearson Air Museum, 1115 E. Fifth St. in Vancouver.

Queen play

You'll have to commute to Salem, but it'll be worth it to see "We Will Rock You," a rock musical experience based on the songs by Freddy Mercury and the band Queen. Of course, it includes such classics as "We Will Rock You," "We Are the Champions," "Bohemian Rhapsody" and "Another One Bites the Dust."

The show has been touring since its 2002 debut at the Dominion Theater in London, and stages at 7:30 p.m. Wednesday, Oct. 2, at the Elsinore Theatre in Salem, .

Tickets are $43-$85. For more:,
