'Smokefall'

Defunkt Theatre opens its 20th season with the Noah Haidle play Oct. 18-Nov. 16 at Defunkt Theatre, 4319 S.E. Hawthorne Blvd. The story explores the power of mythology within a family, how stories we tell ourselves and our children shape our lives, and how healing lies in seeing both the truth and the limitations of that legacy. 'Me ... Jane'

Oregon Children's Theatre opens its season with the West Coast premiere of "Me ... Jane: The Dreams & Adventures of Young Jane Goodall." It's written by Patrick McDonnell and Aaron Posner, directed by Marcella Crowson, and stars Aida Valentine as Jane Goodall, whose love for animals led to her living among the chimpanzees in the jungles of Africa.
