'Shakespeare in Love'

Lakewood Theatre Company puts on the romantic comedy, adapted by Lee Hall from the Academy Award-winning film of the same name. It focuses on penniless young playwright Will Shakespeare, who is battling writer's block until he meets a young woman who becomes his inspiration.

'La Ruta'

By Artists Repertory Theatre, it's an Isaac Gomez musical journey about the femicides in Ciudad Juarez (Mexico). It's directed by Damaso Rodriguez and will be held at the Hampton Opera Center. Previews start Nov. 2. The story: Yoli desperately tries to maintain the hope of seeing her abducted daughter again, while another mother, Marisela, meets bitter heartache. It's based on real-life testimonies.

The Japanese drum group celebrates its 25th anniversary with two shows.
