Moshu and Mei Mei are back together, as Oregon Zoo has welcomed red panda Moshu to pair with companion Mei Mei.

"Moshu and Mei Mei know each other well, and it's wonderful to see them pick up where they left off," said keeper Sara Morgan. "He's a sweet, curious red panda, and we're so excited to have him here."

While Mei Mei has been at the zoo since spring, the 7-year-old Moshu arrived earlier this month. The two can be found in the red panda habitat at the heart of the zoo. Red pandas are mostly solitary and sleep a lot, or spend time in small groups, but Moshu and Mei Mei have bonded.

"If you visit Moshu and Mei Mei at the zoo and don't spot them right away, be sure to look up — they like to spend time in the tops of trees," Morgan said.

Red pandas are not related to giant pandas. The sharp-toothed, ring-tailed omnivores are the only members of the Ailuridae family, found in montane forests of the Himalayas and mountain ranges in southwestern China.

Comic books cover sports

Portland's TidalWave Comics, which usually features celebrities and political types, goes to the sports world with a comic book biography of basketball star LeBron James. And, the company plans biographies about Nike co-founder Phil Knight and Trail Blazers star Damian Lillard in 2020.

The 24-page James book, written by Scott Davis with drawings by Angel Bernuy and cover by Brent Sprecher, is available digitally and in print. For more: www.tidalwavecomics.

Sold out

Pete Davidson is a pretty popular comedian, and star of "Saturday Night Live," who has quite a following in the tabloid culture. He's appearing at Revolution Hall on Tuesday, Nov. 26, but, alas, it's sold out.

'Oregon's Moon Country'

With a documentary in December, Oregon Public Broadcasting takes a look at the lava fields of Central Oregon and their role in the historic 1969 moon landing. The terrain at Hole in the Ground, the Newberry Volcano, McKenzie lava fields and other areas has unique formations that resemble the lunar surface and provided NASA astronauts an ideal place to train.

Locals promoted the area as "Moon Country."

With several interviews and images, the "Oregon Experience" documentary airs at 9 p.m. Dec. 16 on OPB, and will be available online at opb.org/mooncountry at the same time.

It helps mark 50 years since Apollo 11 landed on the moon.

Lights artists

The fifth Portland Winter Light Festival 2020, set for Feb. 6-8 at sites throughout Portland, has determined its lineup. More than 100 artists will use varied media, such as video projection mapping, fire sculpture and live performance, in a theme of "Into the Dreamscape."
