Milwaukie exhibit to showcase wearable art, costumes
A benefit for Milwaukie's Chapel Theatre will offer a close-up view of wearable art and costume design to celebrate the diversity and creativity of Portland-area designers.
Featured pieces will represent costumes from theater/TV/film, fiber arts, cosplay and drag. The benefit and exhibit opens at Chapel Theatre on Friday, Dec. 10, and runs two weekends. The last chance to see the exhibition will be Sunday, Dec. 19.
Chapel Theatre's exhibit will showcase pieces that have been on stages, in competitions, conventions and events in a close-up environment. Amber Black, the exhibit's curator, hopes the event will offer something for everyone while supporting Chapel Theatre.
"We're so lucky to have this special group of designers come together for this show," Black said. "We are all very different artists but together carry a strong passion for visual storytelling. I'd like to think this will be the first of many events like this to come."
