The Central boys team beats runner-up Barlow by 26 points at district

by: PAMPLIN MEDIA GROUP: DAVID BALL - Central Catholic's Beau Duronslet sprints for the finish line during the Rams win in the 400-meter relay Wednesday. He also won the district finals in both hurdle races, as Central took the team trophy. The Central Catholic boys track team won the Mount Hood Conference title Wednesday night after loading the awards stand at the district meet.

The Rams won district with 168 points and took home the season title when dual-meet champ David Douglas dropped to third at district.

Central Catholic had a pair of double winners with Kyle Thompson in the 1,500-meter final (3:57.32) and in the 3,000 (8:44.29), while Beau Duronslet won the high hurdles (15.1) and 300 hurdles (39.82).

Central Catholic held its own in the field as well with Jared Moore winning the pole vault (13 feet), while Connor Humphreys was second in the discus and Patrick Myers was second in the high jump (6-0).

The Rams other win came in the 400 relay (42.96) with the team of Cameron Scarlett, Lawrence Wilson, Matt Vanoudenhaegen and Duronslet.

David Douglas won a league-high seven events with Dmitriy Vakulchik taking first in the 100 (11.13) and 200 (22.26). He was the high scorer at the meet. Teammate Samson Ebukam won the shot put (54-5 3/4) and javelin (186-3), Ihoghama Odighizuwa won the triple jump (44-1) and Joshua Kellebrew won the 800 (1:54.77).
