Motocross: Portland International Raceway is the site for a Pro Unlimited event, featuring a $15,000 main event purse. Gates open at 3 p.m., practice begins at 4:15 p.m., and racing at 6 p.m. Admission is $10 for adults, $5 for children, with women free.

Hops: The Hillsboro Hops open a five-game home baseball series with the Spokane Chiefs. The first game starts at 7 p.m. at Hillsboro Ballpark.

Timbers U-23s: The final game on the schedule is at South Eugene High, as Portland’s Premier Developmental League team takes on Lane United FC in an exhibition game at 7:30 p.m.

Highland Games: The two-day Scottish event starts at 3:30 p.m., and includes the sheaf and keg toss at 4 p.m. and caber toss at 6:30 p.m., all at Mt. Hood Community College.

Hops: Hillsboro’s Class A Northwest League baseball team plays the second of five games in five days against the visiting Spokane Chiefs, 7 p.m., Hillsboro Ballpark.

OIBA: Prep summer baseball playoff action continues in the Oregon Independent Baseball Association, with sub-tournament best-of-three series at various locations. Grant plays at Aloha, Reynolds is at Beaverton, and Jesuit hosts the winner of Wednesday’s Lincoln-Gresham game. Each series continues through Sunday, if necessary, with 16 teams advancing to the state tournament July 23-27 at Tigard and Oregon City highs.

Saturday, July 20

Timbers: Portland plays at Philadelphia’s PPL Park, 4:30 p.m. PT.

Highland Games: The annual event continues at Mt. Hood Community College. Gates open at 8 a.m., with dancing, piping, drumming, fiddling and more.

Hops: It’s Hillsboro vs. Spokane in Single-A baseball, 7 p.m., Hillsboro Ballpark.

3-on-3 basketball: A women’s tournament at Irving Park starts at 8:30 a.m., with registration at

8 a.m.

Sunday, July 21

Hops: First pitch is 1:30 p.m. at Hillsboro Ballpark, as the home Hops face the Spokane Chiefs in a Class A Northwest League baseball game.

Thorns: Portland is on the road, facing the Boston Breakers at Dilboy Stadium, 1 p.m. PT. The teams met at Jeld-Wen Field on July 6, with Boston winning 2-0.

Swim: The Portland Bridge Swim, from the Sellwood span to the St. Johns, starts at 7:30 a.m. It’s about an 11-mile journey, and leads competitors to the Cathedral Park Jazz Festival. Go to for information.

Monday, July 22

Hops: The Hillsboro Hops conclude a five-game series with the Spokane Chiefs and an eight-game homestand. It’s also the final game in the first half of the season. The Northwest League teams then start the regular season’s second half, with top teams in each half advancing to the end-of-season playoffs. Today’s game starts at 7 p.m. at Hillsboro Ballpark.

Tuesday, July 23

OIBA: The Oregon Independent Baseball Association state tournament begins with games at 10 a.m., 1 p.m., 4 p.m. and 7 p.m. at both Tigard and Oregon City high schools.

Wednesday, July 24

Timbers: Portland welcomes Norwich City FC to Jeld-Wen Field for an 8 p.m. exhibition match.
