by: ISI PHOTOS/PORTLAND THORNS FC - Nadine Angerer (right) has signed to play goalkeeper for Portland Thorns FC in 2014.German international goalkeeper Nadine Angerer has signed with Portland Thorns FC for the 2014 National Women's Soccer League season — and traded 2013 starter Karina LeBlanc.

The Thorns sent LeBlanc to the Chicago Red Stars on Monday for a 2015 second-round college draft pick.

The 5-9 Angerer, 35, was named one of three finalists for the 2013 FIFA Ballon d’Or and earned the UEFA Best Women’s Player in Europe Award for 2012-13.

She won Women’s World Cup titles with Germany in 2003 and 2007

Angerer is a native of Lohr am Main, Germany.

Most recently, she has played with Brisbane Roar of Australia's W-League.

LeBlanc, 33, had a league-leading 11 wins in 2013 and was second in the NWSL with 92 saves in 21 appearances. A Canadian international, she was a two-time NWSL player of the week.

• Also Monday, the Thorns acquired midfielder Sinead Farrelly from FC Kansas City in exchange for the 16th pick in Friday's 2014 college draft.

Farrelly, 24, played 16 games (10 starts) an had one goal for FC Kansas City last year. She is from Havertown, Pa., and played for the University of Virginia.

• Portland now has the 11th slot in the college draft, plus picks in the third round (25th overall) and fourth round (34th).
