Portland State has added three football players during the early signing period.

The Vikings have signed junior-college linebacker Anthony McNichols and JC kicker Ian Boozer and picked up transfer linebacker Zack Berg, who played two seasons at Wyoming.

Berg, 6-2 and 230 pounds, is from Edmonds Woodway (Wash.) High.

McNichols spent the past two seasons at Golden West Community College in Huntington Beach, Calif., his hometown. A 5-11, 225-pounder, he was named Southern California Football Association player of the year for 2013, after making 94 tackles and four interceptions for a 9-2 team. He will be a junior at Portland State.

Boozer will be a PSU sophomore after his one season with Fullerton (Calif.) College. He attended Churchill High in Eugene. At Fullerton, he made seven of eight field-goal attempts, with a long of 47 yards, and went 50 of 52 on extra points. At Churchill, he was 6 of 7 on field goals and averaged 46.6 yards per punt.

All three of the new Vikings will be available for spring football.
