What if they played a friendly and nobody scored?

That was the case Saturday at Tucson, Ariz., where the Portland Timbers and Seattle Sounders FC drew 0-0 in an MLS preseason match.

Portland is 1-0-2 at the Kino Sports Complex, with one goal allowed and none in the last 239 minutes. Donovan Ricketts and Andrew Weber combined for the shutout of Seattle.

The Sounders are 2-0-1.

Five yellow cards, three to Portland, spiced Saturday's play.

The Timbers used 23 players, while the Sounders sent 21 onto the field.

Portland's next outing is 5 p.m. PT Wednesday here against Indy Eleven, an expansion team in the North American Soccer League.

After that, the Timbers will return to Portland and prepare for their Rose City Invitational, which starts Feb. 23 at Jeld-Wen Field.
