No. 1-ranked Connecticut pulled away from No. 4 Louisville on Sunday afternoon and won 81-64 in a rematch of last year's national title game opponents.

The defending champion Huskies improved to 25-0 and 12-0 in the American Athletic Conference.

Louisville, which got nine points from former Franklin High guard Shoni Schimmel, saw its 16-game winning streak come to an end as it fell to 23-2 overall and 11-1 in the AAC.

Schimmel was 4 of 15 from the field, making 1 of 5 from 3-point range. She had six rebounds, three assists, one steal and five turnovers in 32 minutes.

Her sister, Jude Schimmel, came off the bench for 24 minutes but did not score, going 0 for 2 from the floor. She had two rebounds, five assists and one turnover.

UConn has won 31 games in a row, dating to last season.

The home team led 44-33 at the half.

The Cardinals stayed closer than they did in the 2013 NCAA Division I final, which the Huskies won by 33 points. But the Cards couldn't get closer than 14 points down the stretch.

The teams will meet again March 3 at Louisville.
