Clopton had a four-decade run at Wilson and Jackson highs, where his teams won state championships in 2006 and 2012.

He has spent 51 years in coaching baseball in Portland.

Among his many honors over the years was a national high school coach of the year award.

Clopton's successor with the Trojans will be Jeremy Shetler, one of his longtime assistant coaches.
