Portland AFL team deals defensive lineman Paige-Moss to San Jose

The Portland Thunder shored up their offensive line on Thursday, dealing defensive lineman Donte Paige-Moss to the San Jose SaberCats for Jordan Mudge.

The 6-4, 320-pound Mudge is entering his third Arena Football League season.

The Thunder open on Friday, March 27, playing host to the Los Angeles KISS at Moda Center.

Mudge, 25, is a Fresno, Calif., native who played college football at Nevada.

Paige-Moss, 23, was a productive regular last season for the Thunder, but defensive line is one of Portland's deepest areas going into this season. The former North Carolina Tar Heel was sixth on the team in tackles, with 23 1/2 in 17 games, and had a team-high seven sacks.

New Thunder coach Mike Hohensee noted last week that Paige-Moss "had all his sacks the first half of the season. He's got to understand it's an every-play league and you can't take a play off. I think he's working on that."
