Statue honors Bill Walton in San Diego
In San Diego, former Trail Blazers star Bill Walton was honored at a statue unveiling ceremony on Saturday.
The statue was created by Alison Brown of Oregon and was commissioned to recognize native son Waltons various philanthropic work in the San Diego area.
After the unveiling, the 6-11 NBA Hall of Famer led a 30-mile bike ride through Mission Bay to benefit military veterans with PTSD.
Former University of Oregon Pat Kilkenny was among the community backers of the statue project.
Brown, from Troutdale, has been the sculptor of numerous other sports-related art, include The Duck, which recently was unvelied outside Matthew Knight Arena in Eugene.
