The U.S. team celebrates winning the Arnold Palmer Cup.Oregon Ducks golfer Norman Xiong won the clinching match as the United States defeated Europe, 19 1/2-11 1/2, in the Arnold Palmer Cup golf tournament Sunday at Johns Creek, Georgia.

Xiong is a sophomore for Oregon, which recently placed second in the NCAA championships, after winning the national title in 2016.

Xiong, from Canyon Lake, California, defeated Harry Hall of Europe, 8 and 7, in one of the 10 matches.

The U.S. reclaimed the cup when Xiong won the first of 10 head-to-head matches at Atlanta Athletic Club.

Xiong won holes 2-4 to take control, then closed out his opponent by winning Nos. 7-11.
