WEDNESDAY SPORTS NEWS/Baseball writers and Perfect Game pick the 14-0 junior right-hander from Siuslaw High; Beavers Madrigal and Mulholland get mention, too

COURTESY: SCOBEL WIGGINS - THOMPSONOregon State junior pitcher Jake Thompson has been voted to two All-America teams released on Wednesday.

The Siuslaw High grad from Florence made the first team as selected by both the National Collegiate Baseball Writers Association and Perfect Game.

Sophomore infielder Nick Madrigal was a second-team member with Perfect Game and made the A-A third-team of the NCBWA.

Also from OSU, freshman pitcher Jake Mulholland received second-team All-America honors from the writers association.

Thompson, a right-hander, has a 14-0 record and 1.52 ERA and ranks first in the nation in wins and fifth in ERA.

Madrigal, from Elk Grove, California, ranks second in the Pac-12 with a .383 batting average going into the Beavers' College World Series opener, noon PT Saturday against Cal State Fullerton at Omaha, Nebraska.

Mulholland, a left-hander from Snohomish, Washington, is 6-1 with a 1.31 ERA and team-leading six saves.
