WEDNESDAY SPORTS NEWS/After leading the Wolves to the Great Northwest Athletic Association championship, right-hander Brady Miller goes to World Series champion Chicago in the 23rd round of the MLB draft

A pitcher from Western Oregon University, junior Brady Miller, was drafted Wednesday by the World Series champion Chicago Cubs.

The Cubs took him in the 23rd round and with the No. 705 overall pick.

Miller, a right-hander from Gilbert, Arizona, recently was named to the all-Great Northwest Athletic Conference team.

He tied for the NCAA Division II Wolves lead in wins this season, with five in 10 starts, and had a 3.50 ERA.

Miller, 6-2 and 190 pounds, struck out 17 batters in 14 innings over his final two starts, with nine Ks in the GNAC championship game.

Western Oregon claimed its third conference crown in the past five years.
