SUNDAY SPORTS NEWS/Timbers midfielder joins United States National Team for knockout phase of Gold Cup Tournament

NagbeDarlington Nagbe has been named to the United States roster for the knockout phase of the Gold Cup tournament.

Nagbe will miss the Timbers Wednesday home match against Real Salt Lake. The United States plays a quarterfinal match on Wednesday. Should it win that Nagbe would also miss next Sunday's match at Vancouver.

Nagbe has played 17 times for the United States over the last two years. He is one of 23 players named to the knockout phase roster for the Gold Cup.

Costa Rica has also qualified for the quarterfinals, so the Timbers will still be without David Guzman on Wednesday.

Jamaica plays its final group stage match on Sunday to determine if it reaches the quarterfinals. Alvas Powell and Darren Mattocks have played in Jamaica's first two matches.
