Winterhawks blank Chiefs
Cole Kehler made 43 saves Tuesday and the Portland Winterhawks beat the Spokane Chiefs 3-0 in a Western Hockey League game at Memorial Coliseum.
Portland scored once in each period. Kieffer Bellows opened the scoring in the first period. Alex Overhardt made it 2-0 with a short-handed breakaway in the second period. Brad Ginnell scored on a third-period breakaway.
Skyler McKenzie had two assists Cody Glass also had an assist on Bellows goal and Keoni Texeira assisted on Ginnell's breakaway.
Portland had 40 shots and went 0 for 2 on the power play. Spokae was 0 for 5 on the power play.
The Hawks improved to 6-1-0-0 with the win. They play host to Kelowna on Saturday at 6 p.m. in the coliseum.
