Lillard gets Player of the Week

Trail Blazers guard Damian Lillard earns the NBA Western Conference Player of the Week honor for the first time. He averaged 28.0 points, 8.7 assists and 4.7 rebounds in three games, leading Portland in scoring in each game and shooting 59 percent from the field and 70 percent from 3-point range.
• West Linn High junior point guard Payton Pritchard commits to the University of Oklahoma over offers from Gonzaga, Oregon, Villanova and Wisconsin, among others.
• A nearly doubled increase in rent at Providence Park leads the Oregon School Activities Association to move its Class 6A football semifinals and finals elsewhere, ending a 60-year relationship with the stadium. The Portland Timbers call the hiked fee a "very fair deal" and have temporarily reserved the stadium the same weekends for possible playoff matches, anyway.
• The IAAF picks Doha, Qatar instead of Eugene as host of the 2019 world outdoor championships in track and field.
