Kings top Trail Blazers
A Sacramento Kings' team coming off an embarrassing loss handed one to the Portland Trail Blazers on Friday.
Sacramento beat visiting Portland 86-82 on Friday, bouncing back from a 46-point loss to Atlanta on Wednesday.
The Kings are 4-11. The Blazers are 8-7. The same teams meet again on Saturday at Moda Center.
Damian Lillard scored 29 points but missed a 3-pointer in the final minute that would have tied the score. He was 9-of-29 shooting on the night.
CJ McCollum had 19 points but missed all four of his 3-pointers.
No one else was close to double-figures for the Blazers. Portland shot 37 percent from the floor, including 7 for 25 on 3-pointers. Sacramento outscored Portland in the paint, 44-28.
Willy Cauley-Stein scored 10 points early in the fourth quarter to help Sacramento gain a slight lead that the Kings maintained. The 7-footer scored 13 of his 22 points in the fourth quarter. Coming off the bench, Cauley-Stein also had a game-high 10 rebounds.
The 82 points were a season low for the Blazers. The fourth quarter, with 22 points, was their most productive of the night.
