Oregon State's basketball team, coached by Slats Gill, defeats Bruno Studio, 65-30, at Vancouver High in Washington.

The University of Oregon team of coach Howard Hobson wins 57-33 over Fee's Rollerdome, defending state AAU champions, at Jefferson High.

• The Portland Eagles move into a tie for first with the Seattle Ironmen in the Pacific Coast Hockey League with a 6-3 win over the Fresno Falcons at the Portland Arena.

• The Portland Indians, new to the Pacific Coast Professional Basketball League, are about to launch their home season with a two-game weekend series against the Seattle Blue Devils at the armory, Southwest 10th Avenue and Couch Street. Slim Wintermute, former All-American at Oregon, is player-coach of the Portland cagers, whose lineup includes former Oregon State star John Mandic.

The prelim on Saturday will pit Central Catholic High vs. the University of Portland freshman team.

• The Reed College gymnasium will have a faculty-student volleyball match on Saturday night, with squash, handball and table tennis also on the docket.
