The Portland Buckaroos defeat the Los Angeles Blades 9-0 in a Western Hockey League game at Memorial Coliseum. Attendance on a Sunday is 6,160. Dave Kelly is in goal for the Bucks. The team's top scorers for 1965-66 are Cliff Schmautz, Art Jones, Gerry Goyer, Bill Saunders, Tommy McVie, Larry Leach and Connie Madigan (who has a wide lead in penalty minutes). Schmautz receives his second WHL Player of the Week honor in a row.

• UCLA football coach Tommy Prothro, formerly at Oregon State, celebrates with the Gary Beban- and Mel Farr-led Bruins after their 14-12 upset of Michigan State in the Rose Bowl.

• A full slate of Monday City League basketball games is set for the gyms at Cleveland, Franklin, Jefferson, Madison, Lincoln, Roosevelt and Washington highs — 19 games in all. Among the teams: Piggly Wiggly, Dr. Bernard's Molars, Cheerful Tortoise and Central Nazarene.
