An Oregon State basketball coach and University of Portland soccer coach have reason to celebrate this week

Wayne Tinkle (age 52)

Oregon State's head men's basketball coach was born in Milwaukee, Wis., as the youngest of 11 children. He graduated from Ferris High in Spokane, Wash., and played four years at Montana (1986-89), twice named the team MVP. After 12 years as a pro player in the CBA and Europe, he embarked on a coaching career.

Michelle French (age 41)

The new University of Portland women's soccer head coach was born on this day in Fort Lewis, Wash. As a Pilot, she was a college national player of the year finalist in 1998 and helped lead UP to three Final Four appearances as an All-American defender.
