WEDNESDAY LOCAL SPORTS/Timbers sign NASL New York Cosmos midfielder Andres Flores


Wyndham Clark from the University of Oregon tied for fourth in The Bahamas Great Abaco Classic at The Abaco Club, the second event on the 2018 Tour circuit.

Clark, a rookie and 2017 Pac-12 champion, finished at 13-under-par 275 after a final-round, 3-under 69 on Wednesday.

The winner, Adam Svensson of Canada, had a 271 total with a closing 68 to win by one shot.

Scott Harrington, a former Jesuit High golfer, shot 74 for a 287 total. He tied for 54th.


Portland has signed midfielder Andres Flores, who played for the North American Soccer League New York Cosmos when they were coached by new Timbers coach Giovanni Savarese.

The 5-6, 150-pound Flores, from San Salvador, is 27.

The Timbers also have signed 6-1, 170-pound defender Modou Jadama, 23, from Gambia, and re-signed defender/midfielder Bill Tuiloma, a 5-10, 175-pounder, 22, from New Zealand.
