Dick, Ben and Jake -- three athletes of different generations and sports -- all have reason to celebrate this week

Dick Fosbury

(age 71)

Born in Portland, Fosbury revolutionized the high jump with a back-first technique that came to be known as the Fosbury Flop. He starred at Medford High and Oregon State and won the gold medal at the 1968 Olympics. He lives in Ketchum, Idaho.

Ben Crane

(age 42)

The veteran PGA Tour pro, a Portland native, grew up playing at Portland Golf Club, graduated from Beaverton High in 1994 and completed his college career at the University of Oregon. He has eight pro victories, five on the PGA Tour, and lives in Westlake, Texas.

March 7, 1994

Jake Layman

(age 24)

The Trail Blazers' 6-9, 210-pound small forward was born in Norwood, Mass., and played college ball for Maryland. Portland drafted him in the second round in 2016.
