Cardinals rally from 13-point deficit to edge Barlow in OSAA Class 6A game at Chiles Center

The Lincoln Cardinals had one last rally in them.

Down 13 points in the second half, Lincoln's final push earned the Cardinals a 68-63 win over Barlow on Saturday and the third-place trophy at the Oregon School Activities Association Class 6A boys basketball tournament.

The win guaranteed the Portland Interscholastic League a 1-2-3 finish at the tournament.

Lincoln (19-10) scored the final eight points after Barlow went up 63-60 with 1:16 left.

Bryce Sloan, who led Lincoln with 18 points, drove the baseline for a reverse layup to pull the Cardinals within one. Daniel Kovalev recovered a loose ball and took it for a go-ahead layup. After another Barlow turnover, Sloan hit two foul shots to make the margin three.

Barlow's Jesse White, who was 1 for 13, missed a contested 3-pointer, and Lincoln's Aidan Anastas added the clinching free throws with four seconds left.

The Cardinals trailed most of the way, and the final score was their largest lead.

As they did in overcoming an 18-point deficit to force Grant into overtime in Friday's semifinals, the Cardinals never quit.

Kovalev finished with 16 points. Addison Phillips had 12 points and 12 rebopunds, and Anastas had 12 points and eight boards.

Austin Forrar had 21 points to lead Barlow (19-10).
