SATURDAY COLLEGE BASEBALL ROUNDUP/Pilots win series vs. BYU; Ducks, Huskies reschdule in Seattle, will play twice on Sunday


Oregon State 10, Missouri State 2

• OSU, which won the series opener 17-6 on Friday, won again Saturday in a game resumed from Friday.

The third scheduled game of the nonleague series was cancelled due to cold weather.

The Beavers had a 10-1 lead in the second inning of Game 2 when it was suspended because of rain on Friday.

The only run on Saturday came in the fifth inning.

Grant Gambrell, who began Saturday on the mound (in relief of Friday starter Bryce Fehmel) worked 5 1/3 innings, allowing three hits and one run.

The victory pushed the Beavers' record to 26-6, while Missouri State fell to 22-10.

PORTLAND 8, Brigham Young 6

• The Pilots beat the Cougars in a series for the first time, with eight UP players getting at least one hit and the team rallying twice, then holding on at Joe Etzel Field.

Tate Budnick (2-1) gave up one run on three hits in four relief innings to earn the victory.

Matt Kelly and Cody Hawken each had two hits for Portland, which took two out of three in the home series.

The Pilots are 13-20 overall and 6-9 in the West Coast Conference.

The Cougars are 18-14, 7-8 WCC.

Oregon at Washington, ppd.

• UO and UW will play a 10 a.m. Sunday doubleheader at Husky Ballpark, after Saturday's scheduled league game was called off because of rain.

The Huskies won 2-1 on Friday night.

Oregon is 18-14, 5-8 Pac-12.

Washigton is 16-14, 7-3.

Willamette 16, LEWIS & CLARK 0

Willamette 12, LEWIS & CLARK 7

• The Bears out-hit the Pioneers 19-4 and 12-10 to sweep at L&C.

Willamette is 22-14 overall, 14-9 in the Northwest Conference.

Lewis & Clark is 9-29, 5-18.
