SUNDAY COLLEGE SOFTBALL ROUNDUP/Portland State holds off Montana for road series victory


OREGON 4, Stanford 1

• The fourth-ranked Ducks beat Stanford for the 19th game in a row, with Miranda Elish (16-1) holding the Cardinal to two hits at Jane Sanders Stadium.

The Ducks improved to 38-7 overall and 11-4 in Pac-12 play.

The Cardinal dropped to 22-23, 2-13.

Gwen Svekis gave UO a 1-0 lead in the first inning with an RBI single.

After a home run in the top of the fourth tied the score at 1-1, Oregon got three runs in the bottom of the inning. Haley Cruse drove in one run with a single, and Shannon Rhodes hit a two-run home run.

Elish walked one and struck out 10.

Portland State 3, MONTANA 2

• The Vikings prevailed in the rubber match at Missoula, Montana.

Alyssa Burk (10-11) went all the way on the mound for PSU, giving up five hits and one earned run, with four walks and three strikeouts.

Darian Lindsey homered in the first inning for Portland State.

Montana tied the score in the third, but PSU went ahead for good on Rachel Menlove's RBI single in the fourth. Marissa Bruno tripled in the winning run in the fifth.

The Grizzlies got one run in the sixth and had the bases loaded with two out in the seventh.

The Vikings improved to 7-7 in the Big Sky and 14-30 overall.

Montana fell to 8-7, 22-24.
