FRIDAY COLLEGE SPORTS ROUNDUP/Ex-Ducks Allen, Rogers shine at Oregon Twilight, where Concordia sprinter Ortiz sets school records


• University of Portland signee Jake Arteaga, a defender from Glendora, California, is one of 20 players named to the U.S. Under-19 team for the Slovakia Cup.

The U.S. will play four matches in Trnava, Slovakia, starting Monday against Kazakhstan. The U.S. will face Ukraine on Tuesday and the Czech Republic on Thursday. After those group matches, the U.S. will participate in a placement match on Friday, May 11. The two group winners will meet for the championship.

Arteaga has been with the Los Angeles Galaxy Academy since 2014 and played some with the Galaxy II United Soccer League team.


• Concordia's Carlos Ortiz set school records in the 100 and 200 meters at the Oregon Twilight in Eugene.

Ortiz placed sixth in 10.60 seconds and fifth in 21.54.

Former Duck Devon Allen set two meet records, and ex-Duck Raevyn Rogers won the women's 400 in the final meet before planned renovation and demolition of the East Grandstand at Hayward Field.

Allen won the 100 meters and 110 hurdles in 10.29 and 13.42.

Rogers finished in a PR 56.02.
